St. Theresa Catholic Church
St. Theresa Parish is celebrating its 75th year of ministry this year. There are many opportunities for us to celebrate our anniversary, which I invite you to participate in, but one very special way of honoring our jubilee year involves service. As we conclude the Year of Mercy initiated by our Holy Father, Pope Francis, I am inviting all the parishioners of St. Theresa Parish to join me in the work of ministry by offering 75,000 Hours of Service. What better way to celebrate our anniversary than to remember that service is one of the hallmarks of our faith as followers of Jesus Christ?
Service is also one of the key “pillars” of our parish mission statement:
The mission of St. Theresa Parish is to share Christ with others through the sacraments, education, prayer and service.
While 75,000 hours seems like a lot, it really is a very attainable goal that young and old alike can work to achieve. I know our School and Religious Education students will be participating in our service opportunity… now the rest of us need to jump on board. I am looking forward to seeing the varieties of ways people will offer as service and the charting of those hours.
May God bless all of us as we work to provide service for others in the name of Jesus Christ and as we honor our Patroness, St. Thérèse of Lisieux, whose “Little Way” serves as a guidepost for our offering of service in this 75th Anniversary year.
