#GivingTuesday is a worldwide celebration of philanthropy. The idea behind the movement is that there is a day of thanks (Thanksgiving), followed by the retail events of Black Friday, Small Business Saturday, and Cyber Monday, after which #GivingTuesday provides an opportunity for people around the world to support and give back to the charities and causes that are most meaningful to them.
How can you contribute on #GivingTuesday?
This year, as in years past, St. Theresa is encouraging students, families, alumni, parishioners, and friends of the parish to come together and celebrate giving by making a gift to the Tuition Assistance fund to support Catholic education. This day is about the spirit of giving back of our good fortune, and what better way than to provide the ability for families, who might not otherwise be able, to afford their children the opportunity to be educated in the Catholic faith. Tuition assistance is available to St. Theresa School families as well as to students in St. Theresa’s Religious Education program.
The need for tuition assistance at St. Theresa has nearly doubled this year over last due mainly to higher unemployment or underemployment that some of the families of St. Theresa have experienced in this current economic environment.
With additional technology costs and cleaning expenses during these past months, we are trying to continue to make a Catholic education affordable while providing the highest quality of education.
