You are all invited to the 11:30 am Mass on Sunday, July 11th in which we welcome all of you home and honor the scores of volunteers who helped keep our church open and safe during the 15 months of the coronavirus pandemic.
Why should you participate in this Mass?
We have much to be thankful for, primary among them, the return to some level of normalcy after Governor Pritzker moved our state to the fifth level in his multi-phase coronavirus plan. The Archdiocese quickly followed that up by essentially removing most restrictions that have limited participation and attendance at Mass each week. We had been waiting for that for a very long time – it feels so good to be back!!!
We had hundreds of volunteers, a COVID-19 Leadership Team and a Parish Pastoral Staff who worked tirelessly throughout the pandemic to provide as many safe and healthy opportunities as possible for people to be able to worship and participate in the sacraments. We owe all of these people a great debt of gratitude. We will be honoring these people at the Mass on July 11 and thanking them for their service to this parish so it would be wonderful to have a good crowd of people at that Mass to let them know how much we appreciate all that they did during the pandemic.
There will be fabulous music at this Mass to celebrate our return to our spiritual home. Our Music Director, Laura Kutscher, will have a great ensemble of musicians and cantors to lead us in song during this festive liturgy. It’s so wonderful to be able to sing again! Imagine what it will be like if the church is full again and everyone is singing! It will be something you don’t want to miss!
There will also be an opportunity after Mass to share in some hospitality together and reacquaint ourselves with people we haven’t seen in a long time!
Last but not least, we will have the opportunity to receive the Lord in the Eucharist… what can be better than that?!
Please join us for a spectacular celebration of Mass and all the people who have given so much of themselves during the last year and a half. What better way to express joy and gratitude than in the context of the Holy Mass and reception of the Eucharist! I look forward to seeing you there!
Let’s continue to pray for all those who have been impacted by COVID-19… those who have lost loved ones to the pandemic, those who are still struggling to regain health as a result of having contracted the virus, those whose livelihood has been greatly impacted by the effects of the pandemic and those who still live in fear of this virus.
May God bless you all.

Our newly forming Hospitality Ministry, an arm of our Evangelization Team, is debuting the first edition of our parish Welcome Center in the Gathering Space, where parishioners and visitors alike can easily find information about St Theresa and about our Catholic faith. If you are not yet registered for the parish, please consider stopping by and asking our volunteers for help to do that.
St. Theresa formed an Evangelization team in the fall of 2020 to plan our next steps for implementing a faithful discipleship program as part of Renew My Church.
As first steps, the Evangelization team is…
1) Looking to continue the welcoming spirit that the greeting teams brought to worship during the reopening, and
2) Hosting a new faith-based pilot program called “The Search” in the fall of 2021.
The Search is an entry-level program targeted at adults desiring to deepen their relationship with Jesus. The program encompasses a series of faith-based conversations designed to help you to strengthen your spirituality and deepen your knowledge of our Catholic faith. This 7-week program includes a weekly video and small group discussion sessions where individuals can ask questions and share their faith journey, no matter where they are at on their journey, in a supportive and welcoming environment.
The fall 2021 pilot program will serve to introduce the program to parishioners, gain feedback on the program and train interested parishioners to become facilitators for the small group discussions for future offerings of the program. If you would like more information about joining us for this pilot program, please either visit some of our team members at The Search table before and after the 11:30am Grand Reopening Mass this weekend (July 11) or email us at Evangelization@StTheresaChurch.org.
Renew My Church (RMC) is an Archdiocesan initiative designed to create spiritual revitalization by reclaiming what is most central and sacred to our faith – our relationships with Jesus. The objectives of RMC are to breathe new life into our methods of sharing the Gospel by providing people a Church and a home for their faith that is marked by more faithful discipleship, a loving community, and an inspired source for witness.
Aligned with the objective of creating a more faithful discipleship, Jesus is asking all of us to work with the Holy Spirit in new and creative ways to fulfill our Renew My Church mission imperatives by transforming the culture of St. Theresa Parish into one which makes disciples by utilizing evangelization pathways to facilitate developing a deeper relationship with Jesus for individuals both inside and outside our faith community.
